Let's suppose you have a large photo collection and you need to resize them all, for publishing on a web site. In this case, you can go about it the slow way or the quick way. The slow way goes something like this: open each pic individually in the image editor of your choice, and resize the pics one at a time. It will take some time to get the job done, but it will get done.

Or you can go about it the fast way, which involves using a specialized application that can batch resize images. Such an application is JPEG Resizer. As the name suggests, the program can resize multiple JPEG files at the same time using various options.

The program doesn't need installing. The user just has to unzip the downloaded archive and run the program's executable. It comes in two versions, the actual program with a graphical interface and a command line utility for more advanced users.

The interface of JPEG Resizer is practical and features some easy to access options. The user can add an image, multiple images at once or even whole image folders. Unfortunately, the program only supports the JPEG image format. Once added to the program, images can be resized by entering the desired width and height of the image or only the width. At the same time, the quality of JPEG files can be reduced and also the amount of color can be modified. The resampling method can be selected as well. Thus, images can be enlarged without a significant level of quality loss.

Advanced users can take advantage of the command line utility that allows resizing images using commands.

Pros

It includes a simple interface that allows adding a lot of images at once, including complete image folders. Besides that, images can be resized using various settings, like setting the width, the height or only one of them. Furthermore, the quality level of JPEG files can be adjusted and also the resampling method. Last but not least, the program includes a command line version, ideal for being used by advanced users.

Cons

The program only supports JPEG files. JPEG Resizer is an awesome software for resizing multiple images at once, thus saving time and effort.
